I found this recipe on StumbleUpon.

Cake Combo: Dark Chocolate cake, Phish Food Ben & Jerry's, Buttercream icing, Hazelnuts on top.

I baked it in two 8 in. rounds (because I didn't have a bunt pan) for ~20-25 mins and made it a layered cake instead.

Came out moist and delicious! Lots of compliments.

Note that it was so moist that when I spread on the frosting pieces of the cake mixed in, so instead of cream colored it was more marbleized.

This cake was a disaster! I bake regularly, and I know my oven temperature is correct, but I had to cook this cake for an extra 20 minutes! Even after I added that extra time, the cake fell while it was cooling. When I flipped it, the cake caved into the hole in the middle, revealing a still-uncooked center in some places. I had so looked forward to this cake, but it is the ugliest thing I've baked in years. Even if I can't serve it to anyone at a friends' gathering, as planned, at least it tastes okay. I'm jealous of all the other commenters who had such success with this recipe!

A friend found this recipe on pinterest and made it with chocolate cake/chocolate ice cream then topped it with chocolate ganache with extra ganache on the side.

Let me tell you, being The Chocolate Slut that I am, it was one of the best chocolate cakes I've ever had. It's going into my recipe folder of Favorites. Only the recipes that I make often go into that folder.

Thanks for sharing this recipe.

I made this recipe tonight and it is delicious. Everyone loved it! The only problem I had was that it spilled over a little bit in the middle and burned at the bottom of the oven. Thank you so much for sharing. I'll definitely be making this again!

This sounds very interesting! Will have to try it. I wanted to add that the difference in volume from using different ice creams is probably from the air content of the ice cream. Rich, decadent ice creams like ben & jerry's and haagen daz have very little air whipped into them where as other brands have quite a bit of air in them...so when they would melt in the batter it would create less volume.
